United Streaming has a new name, it is now Discovery Education Streaming (DE streaming!?!?)

• Here you can learn about several features that Discovery Education provides for teachers.

1. Teacher login (varies by IU)
   1. all IU 12 schools here today are covered, see Sue Sheffer if you need contact information
   2. most schools in IU 15 do subscribe
   3. IU 13 provides subscriptions for entire IU based on media net account number see your media/librarian for info
2. Student login provided by IU 13- IU12 and 15 should check with their school rep to see if they have access to student accounts

   1. many of the full length features have been divided into segments from 30 seconds to several minutes.

There is a student option available to some schools.

In the advanced search area you can narrow down your search results to find specific content.

There are various types of resources available: Images, Videos, Lesson Plans, Quizzes, Audio, and many others.

Full length movies are broken down into small segments.

There are no plug-in needed. You just need to know which version to download.

IV 13, 12, and 15 hare logins
Check with librarian or IU if unsure of your login
Setup by Subject, Grade level
Refine searches by adding criteria
Can go back using bread crumb trail at top of screen
Have choice of Windows Media player or QuickTime
Can stream or download
Download may be better it network is unstable or slow
Some schools may not allow downloads during day
Can save to location of your choice for downloads
Can check box beside video clip to save it to your content online for quick access later
Accessible via My Content Link at bop of screen
Can not repost downloaded videos on a none password protected site

Discovery Atlas
Must have popup blocker turned off to use Discovery Atlas
Slow loading sometimes
Can go any where in the world
Gives videos associated with that country
Can not download these Videos

Assignment Builder
Allows building of assignments buildable for use outside of class
5 step process of creating
Can send an e-mail when student completes assignments
Can use URL in Moodle for assessments or assignments
Can preview, print, or send to ms word
Generates assignment code and URL
Students only need to enter their name to do assignment
Students can browse content when in student center
Can use it you don’t have student accounts

Teacher Center gives access to various classroom tools, resources, and teacher community
Discovery offers braining for teachers
Can get equipment for school
Offers good networking opportunities
Can subscribe to newsletter
